SUMMARY:2023 AAGP Neuroscience Teaching Day
DESCRIPTION:The Neuroscience of Resilience\nProgram Co-Chairs:\nOlivia I. Okereke\, MD\, MS \n\n\n\nMassachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School\, Boston\, MA\n\n\n\nJulie Dumas\, PhD \n\n\n\nUniversity of Vermont\n\n\n\nProgram Description\nNeuroscience Teaching Day is a ½-day educational program on the morning before AAGP starts. The 2023 program focuses on the neuroscience of resilience and its importance in geriatric psychiatry. There is a growing awareness of the critical role of the resilience in aging with regard to better cognitive\, behavioral and well-being outcomes in later life. Integration of concepts in the biology and neuroscience into our understanding of patients’ resilience and potential enhance resilience in aging will be increasingly important in the practice of geriatric psychiatry. This program features three 45-minute expert presentations and a panel discussion. These cutting-edge presentations will address three themes in the neuroscience of resilience: 1) the experience of wisdom in aging\, its neurobiological basis and contributions to resilience in aging\, and potential modifiers of wisdom during aging; 2) the molecular and neural mechanisms of risk and resilience in geriatric depression and the role of biological aging markers in addressing relevant treatments and clinical outcomes; 3) the neuroscience of positivity in aging. Following the presentations\, the panel discussion will include questions from the participants. \nDid you register for the conference and missed registering for this opportunity?  It's not too late!  Simply contact info@aagponline.org. AAGP Staff are standing by to help you. \n\nFaculty\nHelen Lavretsky\, MD\, MS\nUniversity of California Los Angeles \nDilip V. Jeste\, MD\nUniversity of California San Diego \nSteve Cole\, PhD\nUniversity of California Los Angeles \nProgram Learning Objectives\n\nTo appreciate the neurobiological basis of wisdom in aging and a framework for how wisdom can be modifiable during aging\nTo understand the molecular and neural mechanisms involved in both risk and resilience in geriatric depression\nTo identify the role of aging biomarkers in evaluating risk and outcomes in geriatric depression.\nTo identify to brain cortical networks involved in positivity during aging\n\nRegister early and save!\n\nPre-registration – on or before February 16\, 2023\n\nCOMPLIMENTARY HOT BREAKFAST BEGINNING AT 7:45 AM \nCME Accreditation\nThis activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Amedco and the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. Amedco is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
