SUMMARY:2024 Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:We look forward to seeing you at the 2024 Annual Meeting in Atlanta\, March 15-18\, 2024. This year’s meeting theme will be "Reimagining Geriatric Mental Health: Innovations to promote the well-being of caregivers and patients." \nThe 2024 Annual Meeting theme in a post-pandemic world calls for innovation that can reduce stress and trauma\, and promote brain health and well-being in millions of aging adults and caregivers in the United States and around the world. We will capitalize on transformative initiatives in education\, clinical practice\, and research to promote brain health awareness among healthcare providers and the American families that  lay the foundation of healthy and positive aging across all strata of our society and the world. The 2024 Annual Meeting will provide a stimulating forum and an opportunity to share our collective wisdom and passion for our profession. \nThe Annual Meeting offers cutting-edge educational programming for a broad audience of allied health professionals\, including geriatric and general psychiatrists\, medical students\, residents and fellows\, psychologists\, nurse practitioners\, social workers\, and researchers.  We also encourage general psychiatry residents and medical students with a special interest in the mental health treatment of older adults to attend our annual meeting. Whether you work in a private hospital\, clinic\, state mental health facility\, skilled nursing facility\, or long-term care setting\, or private practice\, the AAGP Annual Meeting has something to offer you. \nCheck out a program outline for the 2024 Annual Meeting and more information below.

SUMMARY:2023 AAGP Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This year’s meeting theme will be "Aging through a New Lens: A Focus on Emergent Strengths\, Resilience and Diversity”. Aging is typically defined by accrued limitations and pathology\, but it can equally be defined by emergent strengths such as wisdom\, resilience and creativity. This more positive take on aging is advanced by the diversity of experience\, contributions and peoplehood of aging individuals. \nIn all circumstances\, particularly amidst the mental health conditions that geriatric psychiatrists and other geriatric mental health clinicians see\, the strengths of aging emerge as key elements of therapy and well-being. Gene Cohen described this positive process as “creative aging\,” and stressed that it came not in spite of aging\, but because of it. The 2023 annual meeting of the AAGP will provide an informative\, innovative\, and inspirational forum to advance this critical message about aging. \nLearn more
