Using Telehealth Technology to Improve Access and Quality of Mental Health Care to Older Veterans *No CE Available*

This session will focus on the use of telehealth technology to improve access to mental health services for aging veterans in the Veteran Health Administration (VHA). The speakers, representing 5 different VA centers across the country, will present different models for applying telehealth technology in geriatric psychiatry practice. These include: a geriatric psychiatry consultant model partnering with home-based primary care teams to outreach across several rural states; a geriatric psychiatrist who teleworks from home and provides telehealth to home geriatric psychiatry consultation and ongoing management; incorporating VA Video Connect technology to facilitate telehealth to home and telehealth to facility visits within a geriatric psychiatry teaching clinic, and using telepsychiatry to facilitate access to geriatric psychiatry services for several State Veterans' homes. These different models will be presented using case-based learning, followed by a discussion of opportunities and challenges to help others who may wish to adopt telehealth technology in their own geriatric psychiatry practices at the VA. This submission is sponsored by the VA Caucus.
