University Hospitals Case Medical Center Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship
University Hospitals Case Medical Center
Cleveland, OH

University Hospitals Case Medical Center offers a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry. Our educational and clinical fellowship provides a multidisciplinary experience including psychosomatic medicine, neuropsychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry. Fellows have clinical experience in all necessary arenas: inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, inpatient medical hospital consultation, geriatric medicine outpatient, geriatric comprehensive assessment clinic, nursing homes, and the potential for home visits. Fellows have access to and involvement in research and educational experiences, including neuroimaging and medication clinical trials with an older adult population. Direct supervision and education are provided by an expert, multidisciplinary faculty. Didactic lectures and grand rounds presentations provide stimulating educational experiences and forums for interacting with department residents and faculty members. Fellows can expect to have a broad biopsychosocial knowledge base in geriatric psychiatry and multiple therapies, including pharmacotherapy, supportive-expressive therapies, family and group therapy, and behavioral management techniques. Upon completion the fellow should have a high level of proficiency in the clinical practice of psychiatry related to the older adult and the skills to continue their education.
